This course is for All healthcare professionals with the responsibility of caring and supporting people who have suffered a stroke or are experiencing stroke-related illnesses.

On completion delegates will have an awareness of what a stroke is, recognise the common signs and symptoms of a stroke and know what action to take. Delegates will be able to identify the different types of stroke and discuss the risk factors. The delegates will be able to understand the importance of emergency response and treatment, be able to provide support and discuss various forms of communication.


By the end of this course, learners will understand:

• Understand how a stroke occurs

• Explain the different types of stroke

• Identify the common signs and symptoms of a stroke

• Understand the importance of responding immediately

• Know what action to take once a stroke has been identified

• Identify the different types of risk factors

• Understand stroke-related impairments

• Acknowledgement of how communication is affected

• Provide support for patient after a stroke
